Founded in 2021, the American Farrier’s Association Foundation is governed and stewarded by individuals dedicated to the advancement of the trade and the science of farriery.

Our mission to improve the welfare of the horse and support the farrier profession is guided by the pursuit of knowledge and excellence in hoof care.

Areas of Support

The AFA centers upon five foundational tenets which reinforce the mission and drive all of the efforts and programs. These tenets are education, certification, communication, research, and innovation.

The Foundation is key to helping the Farrier Industry and individual farriers get further (or advance), with the horse being the beneficiary of that advancement.

Tim Byrne, Jr., CJF

The American Farrier’s Association has improved the level of farriery in North America since its creation. The foundation is an excellent choice for farriers, horse owners, veterinarians and others to support; to ensure the duration and advancement of these programs to continue to improve the farrier profession and advance hoof care for all equines.
